Houkai Beasts are animals that have been infected Houkai Energy and thereby mutated. At first, with the smaller-scale Houkai Outbreaks, the resulting mutations were not especially bothering—mostly just the animals becoming more powerful or gaining new limbs and body structures. Those possessed by the Houkai Energy may transform in physical form, with irreversible changes occurring in their genetic codes. Individuals that were already powerful to begin with may become host to more Houkai Energy and become even stronger. In the current era, where Houkai Outbreaks occur increasingly frequently, Houkai Beasts continue to evolve. From time to time, the more capable Houkai Beasts may master methods to control Houkai Energy and become far more skilled in battle than Zombies.

受到崩坏能影响而发生异变的动物称之为崩坏兽。起初，因为崩坏本身规模不大的关系，所产生的崩坏能异变也只是使生物的力量更强，或者生出其他肢体和结构，崩坏能本身寄宿的个体会发生结构异变，对其生物与基因排序产生不可逆影响。原先越强大的个体，其身体结构能够寄宿更多崩坏能，因而也越强大。在崩坏发生逐渐变得频繁的时代，崩坏兽受到影响也在不断进化，并且偶尔也会有强大的崩坏兽掌握了操纵崩坏能的方法。较于死士，崩坏兽的实力更加强大。

崩壊エネルギーの影響で異変が生じた動物を崩壊獣と呼ぶ。最初は崩壊そのものの規模が小さいので、異変も単に生物の力を強化するか、余分な手足や組織を生み出す程度。崩壊エネルギーそのものが宿った個体は組織に異変が生じ、その個体と遺伝子配列に不可逆的な影響を及ぼす。もともと強大な個体ほど、崩壊エネルギーを多く宿せるので、さらに強大になる。崩壊が頻繁に発生する時代には、崩壊獣が受ける影響もたえず進化し、たまに崩壊エネルギーを操る術を心得ている強大な崩壊獣もいる。崩壊獣の実力はゾンビよりさらに強大。

붕괴 에너지의 영향으로 변이가 발생한 동물을 붕괴수라 부른다. 초기에는 붕괴 자체의 규모가 작아 변이도 단순히 생물의 힘을 강화하거나 여분의 사지나 조직을 생성하는 정도다. 붕괴 에너지 자체가 깃든 개체는 조직에 변이가 발생하며 해당 개체와 유전자 배열에 비가역적 영향을 미친다. 원래 강력한 개체일수록 붕괴 에너지를 더 많이 수용할 수 있어 더욱 강대해진다. 붕괴가 빈발하는 시대에는 붕괴수가 받는 영향도 진화를 거듭하며, 간혹 붕괴 에너지를 조종하는 술법을 터득한 강대한 붕괴수도 존재한다. 붕괴수의 전투력은 좀비보다 훨씬 우월하다.
